Skeletalis is a Boston-based biotechnology company developing next-generation therapeutics to rebuild and protect the skeletal system. Our platform technology leverages bone-targeted small molecules for treatment of osteoporosis and other musculoskeletal diseases. Skeletalis is backed by Pillar, KdT, and age1 ventures.

We’re a small, science-driven, and fast-growing team looking for a Senior Scientist (Medicinal Chemistry) to lead our chemistry efforts as an individual-contributor consultant, with the potential to transition into a full-time role as the company scales.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead medicinal chemistry strategy and execution β€” from hit-to-lead optimization to development candidate nomination
  • Drive structure-based design, SAR exploration, synthetic route design, and multi-step synthesis
  • Oversee route scouting, process development, and API delivery (mg β†’ kg scale) for preclinical and CMC activities (non-GMP through cGMP)
  • Manage CROs, CDMOs, and independent consultants to ensure scientific rigor, quality, and on-time delivery
  • Coordinate chemistry logistics supporting downstream biology, formulation, and IND-enabling studies
  • Contribute to IP strategy, due diligence, and preparation of scientific presentations and publications
  • Expand the platform chemistry to generate new small-molecule and peptidomimetic assets

What You Bring

  • PhD or MS in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry (or related discipline), with at least 5 years of industry experience.
  • Proven experience leading small-molecule or peptidomimetic drug discovery programs
  • Direct experience managing SAR campaigns and CRO/CDMO vendors
  • Strong foundation in multi-step synthesis, route design, and process scale-up
  • Excellent project management and communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Tablet/capsule formulation or in-vitro ADME experience
  • Familiarity with in-silico design tools and GMP manufacturing
  • Exposure to IP licensing, due diligence, or publication development
